What Anti-Virus software do you suggest?

I prefer AVG Anti-Virus FREE Edition from Grisoft. It's free for personal, etc. use and is an excellent virus scanner. For a small business I would recommend either Grisoft's commercial version or Symantec's latest.

I have had great success with SpyBot: Search & Destroy without any problems. It's interface is simple, yet powerful, and best of all it's free!

Which browswer should I use?

Without a doubt, firefox! The only thing to keep in mind is that a handful of websites won't look/act quite the same as with Internet Explorer. Of course, Firefox wasn't deemed a threat by the Department of Homeland Security.
